Gastrointestinal disorders The most serious gastrointestinal disorders were ulceration and haemorrhage which are known risks associated with mycophenolate mofetil. Mouth, oesophageal, gastric, duodenal, and intestinal ulcers often complicated by haemorrhage, as well as haematemesis, melena, and haemorrhagic forms of gastritis and colitis were commonly reported during the pivotal clinical trials. The most common 36 gastrointestinal disorders, however, were diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Endoscopic investigation of patients with mycophenolate mofetil-related diarrhoea have revealed isolated cases of intestinal villous atrophy (see section 4.4).
